Happy New Year!!

Snow and the end of the year

It is really hard to believe the end of the year is here already.  The new year brings renewed hope for a better year and a chance to learn new things while becoming better people.  This year, like many in the past, I am going to work on being more sympathetic to others and learn to love them who are so different from me.
Isn't it so easy to love the people who think like us?
Isn't it so easy to love the people who understand us and we understand them?
Where is the challenge in that?
Here I go, attempting to love those that are different from me, and not just a little different but a lot different.
Happy New Year, my friends!

Long hair

Edward has not wanted his hair cut in months. How do I keep it out if his eyes? Here is my solution; however I think the instances he is called a girl will triple.

Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card

My favorite quote was in the afterword of the book.
"Charlie, I say: I am proud of all you do with your life, and glad to be your father; though you deserved a better one, you have been generous enough to love the one you have." Orson Scott Cards son has Cerebral Palsy.
Beautifully written.

Christmas in a few pictures

We started off our Christmas Holiday with two parties in one night, an ugly sweater party and an end of the world party.  The world was supposed to end on 12-21-12.  It didn't.  We had a great time, either way.
Wednesday, before Christmas, I headed back down to Phoenix to have more blood work done on Nolen.  We tried to visit as many people as possible.  Here are the boys with Denni.  I used to be her Nanny back in Hawaii.  She was only 8 months old then.

Chelsea was my very first college roommate.  We were meant to be friends.
After our quick trip in Phoenix, we headed up to Kingman to celebrate an early Christmas.
Alicia and Amanda opening their presents.
Edward opening one of MANY hot wheels.
My cute nephew Landon holding his Holiday spoils.

Logan giving Nolen a hug and Nolen actually hugging him back!
Nolen playing with a hot wheels car.

Three of many hot wheels cars.
Nolen trying to open one of his presents.

Edward and Logan (best cousins forever) trying to figure out which toy to open.

Sharla riding on a pretend horse.  HILARIOUS!
My amazing parents.  It really doesn't get much better.

Blurry shot of Veronica (8 months pregnant) and me.  My BFF since 5th grade.
My parents and ALL the grandchildren.  Too bad half of them weren't really paying attention.
Logan, Alicia, Me, and Edward.

Bath time!

These boys love my parents HUGE jacuzzi tub and request a bath together every time we visit.
Grandpa reading "The Christmas Train" by Thomas S. Monson.
Nolen and Grandma listening to the story.

Christmas morning with the boys.  I love the pajama and disheveled hair look.

Dad and his boys.

I love, love, love Christmas.  I couldn't have said that 4 years ago.  There is something magical about having children who are super excited to open presents and play with new toys.  I am so grateful to my family.  We are truly blessed.

Gluten free???

Changing my picky eaters diet has been challenging. It was challenging long before we went gluten free. Here is what lunch looks like today. Any ideas? I am gladly accepting any food ideas.

Phoenix children's museum

We took a long trip to Phoenix to have more blood work done on Nolen. While traveling around the state, we stopped for a few hours at the Phoenix children's museum. Blair, Edward, Nolen, and I had a blast playing with all the cool gadgets.
I also stopped to see some college roommates and let our kids play. For fun, here is the trendiest picture of me you will ever see.

A weekend with cousins

We took a quick trip to Phoenix so that Nolen could see a specialist. For our over night visit, we stopped to see cousins we haven't seen in over a year and a half. We are truly blessed to have family so close and we miss them already!
