Buildin' a playset

This holiday weekend, my patents drove out from Arizona and helped build the playset they bought the boys. Definitely some extremely hard work and we are not even finished yet.  Follow the pictures to see our progress.

Ba ba

No. No sheep live here, but you might think one did as much as Nolen says, "ba ba, please."
Nolen chewed through his very last nipple yesterday. I couldn't run out and buy more so he had to have a sippy cup. I had him throw away the nipple himself and say, "bye-bye ba ba."  Alas, he couldn't fall asleep without it. I ended up laying with him for 20 minutes then gave up and gave him a melatonin. Here's hoping tonight goes a little better.

A morning run

Lately, I have been getting up before the boys so that I could run alone. This doesn't always work out but on the days it does, I can find peace.

2 point 5

My sweet little Nolen is two and a half today.  I am so blessed to have this little man in my life.  Lately, I have taken to calling him, "Little Turkey" because he seems to get in to everything and make trouble.  Nolen is such a special spirit.  He has fire behind his eyes.  I love you my sweet turkey.
Nolen loves to jump!
Nolen loves to eat popsicles and watermelon.
He takes 2 hour naps and sleeps most of the night.  Only waking up once or twice a night now.
Nolen loves trains. He especially loves Thomas the train and building train tracks for Thomas to ride along.
Nolen eats cereal and milk for breakfast.  Gluten free pasta for lunch and some rice for dinner.
Nolen has started to try new foods.  Slowly but surely.
Nolen loves his brother.  They have started to play so well together.
He will copy anything Edward does, including everything Edward says... even the bad stuff.
Nolen is a dare devil.  He will climb high and jump off anything.
He is sweet.
He gives kisses and hugs on command.
He loves Jeep rides and the park.
Nolen is patient.
He is kind.  He is understanding.  He is loving.
Happy 1/2 birthday little turkey!

Someday, little buddy. Someday.

Spring time!

Spring in New Mexico can be quit an adventure. We have such varying temperatures. Somedays a jacket is a must then the very next day even shorts aren't cool enough. Today, the weather is just right. Cool breeze, sunshine, freshly cut grass, and some watermelon. I live for these days!

Happy Mothers DAY!

My mother is truly amazing.  She is constantly giving and sacrificing for her children.  I hope that I can someday become half the woman she is today.  I have also been blessed to be a part of my Grandma and Grandmother's lives.  They were both such righteous women who were a true example of womanhood to me.  I am so blessed to have known them.

A visit from Grandpa

Last Friday, Grandpa Barnes headed over to Albuquerque.  I had asked him a few weeks prior to come and help Stephen give Nolen a blessing.  We had a wonderful time taking him to ride the escalator and carousel in the mall after eating out at Outback Steak House.  I was surprised at how well Nolen behaved as we sat in the booth waiting for our food.  We told him "First frenchie fries, then escalator" and he seemed to understand.  The moment we walked out of the restaurant he said, "Escalator!".  So cute!
John and Stephen gave Nolen the sweetest blessing and I have faith in the healing power of our Heavenly Father.  I was asked to audition for a musical here in town.  They had originally said I would be great for the lead.  After two auditions they said, "no".  I had prayed the night before my second audition and had the feeling the part wasn't right for me.  Although it would have been fun to play the lead in a musical, I feel it is more important to spend the summer with my boys.  Especially with Nolen.  I have so many plans this summer and I hope that when Fall arrives, Nolen will be in a great place.
We were so glad to have John come for a visit.  Edward enjoyed playing trains with him for hours on end.  We can't wait for our next visit.

While flying home on Thursday, I was surprised when the captain of the plane came on and said, "The local ATC would like to welcome Julie home and the house hasn't been the same with out her."  I LOVE my husband!  He is so thoughtful.  I know it was tough for him to survive the three days while I was gone and he definitely showed his appreciation for me in a very public way.
