Pre-School for Nolen

After a lot of thought and prayer, we decided to put Nolen in pre-school this year.  He is in Ms. Lisa's class.  This is the same pre-school class Edward did last year and loved it.  I dropped Nolen off at school and he said, "Bye, Mom".  That's all.  No tears.  He is such an adorable little man.  I love him.  My two little boys are off at school by 9 AM each morning.  Here is to new adventures this year.

Tree hair

Today, while driving Edward home from school, he informed me that his new friend Ethan has, "tree hair". Also, "Ethan is the funniest kid, ever !" However, just last week, Strider was the funniest kid, ever.

Opera Day at Santa Fe

Last night was my final performance with the Santa Fe Opera.  It has been SO amazing.  I have loved every single moment of my time up in Santa Fe.  I feel so blessed to have had this experience. I met some amazing people and learned a lot about the professional opera business.  I can finally show the pictures I have been taking all along as the show is over.

Today, my sweet Edward is 5 1/2.  He does not like having his picture taken.  At all.  He started Kindergarten last week and so far, he loves it.  He is getting more comfortable with the idea of being gone all day and spending time with some one else.  He said he is making friends and told me that he will tell me their names today.
Edward loves snakes.  All kinds of snakes.  He has been to the Rattle Snake Museum in old town Albuquerque 3 times in the last month. He insisted on taking his pictures today with his toy snake.  He also informed me that he wants a snake for his 6th birthday.  I will think about it.
Edward has been a bit more aggressive lately.  I believe it may have been due to boredom over the summer.  He watches Nolen do many "fun" looking things and tends to get a bit jealous.  Hopefully, going to school on his own will change some of his aggression.
Edward can now ride a pedal bike with training wheels.  I could take off the training wheels, but I am not sure if I am ready.  HA!
He loves swimming.  He loves to laugh and say silly potty words.  He loves making Nolen laugh.  He plays with Nolen all day.  These two have become inseparable.  When we dropped Edward off at school, Nolen sat by the window and waited for Edward to come back.  After a while, he came in to me and asked, "Can we go get Edward from school?"
Edward still loves to play Hot Wheels and will recruit anyone and everyone to play with him.  He still doesn't want his hair cut and fights me even to brush his luscious long locks.
At night, Edward asks me to tell him stories from my childhood.  I started by telling him a story about a Rattle Snake I encountered with my siblings when I was 5 and he has been hooked ever since.  It is hard for me to recall a lot of my childhood memories, but this is a good exercise for me.
After I tell my story, Edward will tell me a story.  It is generally a version of my story.
I love this sweet little man.  He can still be quite ornery.  I suppose that goes with the 5 year old territory.
I love you, Edward.

A year of ABA Therapy

Nolen has been in ABA Therapy for over a year now.  We took a video last September to show where he began.  A year later, the improvement is incredible.

My sweet handsome Edward started Kindergarten today at The Montessori Elementary School.  He is absolutely growing up!  I remember thinking, a few years ago, that we still had years before kindergarten; however, those years went fast.  Edward slept in and didn't want to wear the clothes I picked out for him, so we compromised.  He ate breakfast slow and carried his blanket and snake with him all around the house.  I took just a few pictures, which he hated, and we ran out the door to get to school right on time!  Wow, this is going to be tough for me.  He walked in the door and didn't even look back.  What a great kid!  He will do wonderful at this school.  I love the Montessori method and it is ideal for Edward's learning style.  I love my sweet Edward so much! Be careful, future Julie, time goes by fast!
