Hello, San Francisco!

Today is the day. Today is the day Stephen moves into his apartment in San Francisco.  Today is the day he starts a new life without us.  He will be living alone for the next year in San Francisco while he trains at the tower to become a tower air traffic controller.  We uprooted our family, moved in with my dad, and we are looking toward a better financial future for all of us.

We left my aunt Judy's house around 9 AM and drove up to Stephen's apartment.  We contacted the home owners and drove up to the house.  It was intimating to say the least.  The street was full of cars and there was no where to park Stephen's truck with the trailer.  We parked in front of the driveway and started unloading the trailer.  As we unloaded, I realized what Stephen had brought with him.  IT WAS SO MUCH! The room he is staying in is so tiny and he brought a lot of furniture.  We barely got the couch in, he brought a chair, two foot stools, a bed, and a dresser.  We barely got it all in and did a lot of sweating to make it happen.

After figuring out where to put stuff in the tiny room, we headed out to meet my cousin, Melinda.  I haven't seen her in year.  We had to drop the uhaul off in a funny place in San Francisco and then we couldn't find a place to park to meet Melinda in downtown San Francisco.  Melinda got lucky and score a spot for us!  We loved hanging out with her and her boy friend and asking her tons of questions about the city.  She is so fun!

After dinner we drove back to the apartment and it sunk in that Stephen will be living in the tiny space with out us.  Sunday, we woke up and went to costco and tried to drop off one of the chairs at the goodwill but they wouldn't take it.   We ended up taking it and a lot of boxes to the dump for $40 bucks.  Ugh.  Either way, we got Stephen settled in and he started work on Monday.  I left Tuesday morning at 5 AM and seriously cried as I walked to my plane.  I miss him already.  Stephen is my everything.  I adore him.  It will be three weeks until I see him again and it might just be the hardest longest three weeks of my life!!
