Seven National Parks in Seven States in Fourteen Days; San Fransisco and Alcatraz

 After leaving Yosemite, we drove to Napa Valley to stay with Melanie's favorite Aunt and Uncle.  We quickly learned why they are her favorite.  Jed and Kaleen are two of the most welcoming and kind people on this planet.  The recently lost their home to the California fires a few years ago.  When we arrived, they had just put the finishing touches on their new home.  We slept in the barn.  They had converted the barn to a home right after the fire.  Their first night in their new home was our first night at their home.  The kids loved it so much, they didn't want to leave.  We could have spent our entire two weeks at their house and never been bored. 

On Friday, we drove in to San Francisco.  We actually parked near the ocean and took a ferry to San Francisco, then took Uber's to get around the city.  We went to Ghirardelli Square first and got some treats.  

The Uber drivers of San Fransisco were insane! We each had a wild ride.  We thought we could walk back to the ferry and learned it was much farther than we originally though.

After we left Ghirardelli Square, we headed to the ferry that would take us to Alcatraz.  The prison was interesting.  I was thinking it was much bigger because most websites said to plan for two hours at the island; however, we were done in about 45 minutes.  Maybe the kids were done looking at prison cells and just wanted to get back to Jed and Kaleen's house? 

Once we were back in Napa Valley, the kids all jumped right in to the pool!  Saturday, we headed over to the coast and played in the tide pools, ate sea food fresh from the sea, and filled up on salt water taffy.
