Today is the last day of June.
I'm sad.
I can not believe the summer is half over.
I am seriously debating weather or not to home school my boys. I love having them home. I love having them near me; however, they need social interaction. They need to learn to be a part of the world even though sometimes it is unfair.
I turned 38 two days ago.
Stephen got me an awesome blow dryer and a delicious cake.
I haven't been able to exercise nearly all of June, so I have just been sitting around enjoying my summer by the pool. For my birthday I swam 38 50's. That is 1900 yards. I haven't swam that far since I did the half ironman 6 months ago.
I am frustrated that my right leg is in a boot, but I am excited that I should be able to run for cross country season. Stephen and I are running a half marathon together in October.
Let's go DUKE CITY!
Yesterday, the boys had an end of season Track party with Cougar track. I feel like I failed them a little since I got injured the last week of May. I have been walking in a boot for 2 weeks and it has been tough. For the track party we needed to bring a side dish or dessert. I am sick of taking off my boot to drive, put it back on to walk around, just to take it off again to drive.
Off and on and off and on! Super annoying!
So, I decided to do something a little risky.
I asked the boys to walk in to Smith's food and drug store ALONE!
I gave them $10 dollars and told them to buy a dessert.
I sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. It took them 10 minutes!
Edward said they looked at the Oreo's and he didn't think they had enough money to buy two packages of oreos. HA! So they went to the bakery and found a thing of cookies that said, $5 dollars.
They bought two!
They were charged exactly $10 dollars!
They walked out super confident and they learned they can do something "adult" all by themselves.
I was so relieved when I saw them walking out of the store. PHEW!
Also, Nolen had the 8 and under swim championships at the YMCA yesterday.
He did phenomenal!! This was his last 8 and under championships as he will be 9 next summer. He placed 10th in the 25 free, 13th in the 50 free, and 9th in the breast stroke! I am so proud of him!
Lastly, today Edward was invited to a birthday party at the ice skating rink. Normally, I would say no way on a Sunday. However, Edward has not ever had a play date with this friend and he really wanted to go. So we drove over and the boys went ice skating and ate cake!
