Let's just say that time hit warp speed and I can't quit keep up. I am in the last few months of marathon training so keeping my head above water is a good sign for now. I pulled my calf muscle in Connecticut to getting back to running has been a bit of a challenge. I mostly have photos of Pam Martinez and I running in the dark. We have been waking up at 4 and 5 AM to get in our one to two hour runs. It is difficult to say the least. The boys are enjoying school as much as they can.
I haven't given up on taking a half birthday photo. I love these sweet boys of mine and capturing their lives is my joy! I love looking back on these posts over the years. The boys have changed so much. Edward is fully in his teen years. Puberty hit him hard over the last year. His voice has changed and so has the way he thinks about the world. He is much more mature. He is still silly and loves to play alone most days. He has a good group of friends that he "hangs out" with online.
Edward is kind. He is still so kind. He thinks of others as much as a teenage boy can think of others. He understands the world so much more than I give him credit for. He is as tall as me now. He is strong but doesn't like to do any sports. He wants to play War Thunder all day long. Edward decided to go back to school this year. He is attending Sams Academy. He is loving it so far. He met some new friends and seems to really be getting along with the teachers. I am hoping and hoping and hoping that three years of home school taught him the importance of his education and taking control of his own learning.
Edward wants to become a pilot and join the Air force. He is very undecided about serving a mission but that may change over the years. He is loving deacons quorum and has a lot of friends at church. I love his honesty. I love being his mom. Edward is just truly amazing.
For Edward's birthday he went to his friend Titus' house after school then we went to eat at his favorite restaurant, Grass Burger. It was low key but fun to just talk to him and be a part of his life.
Happy first day of school!
Edward decided he was ready to go back to school. He is attending SAMS Academy and hoping to learn how to fly airplanes. He is VERY excited. We got back from our 10 day trip to the north east and had to hit the ground running. Edward started school right away.
Nolen is choosing to home school for another year. He said he won't be ready to go back to school until he is in high school. He might change his mind. Who knows. Both boys are going to have great years. I just have to adjust to waking up early and being on a strict schedule.
This was our last full day on our trip. We had anticipated going to Canada for a long time. We had done all the necessary preparations and the boys were excited! Canada did not disappoint. It was AMAZING! Far better then Niagara Falls US side. Canada was well manicured, clean, and inviting. We spent the morning just wandering shops and walking around waiting for our turn to ride the zip line. While waiting we went to the top of a space needle to see the falls from up high. The zip line was the high light of our trip.
We truly had an amazing trip. I am so grateful that I was able to take my boys on such a fun trip to the East coast. They were able to experience so much and learn a lot about our American History. I love that I have an adventurous friend, Melanie, who doesn't mind trying crazy things to teach our kids about the world. I was able to see parts of the country that I have never seen. It was beautiful and amazing.
We woke up at 4:30 AM the next morning to catch our flights home. We had THREE flights in total to get back to Albuquerque. We were offered $1000 each for our seats on one of our flights, but the boys were ready to get home so they didn't take the money.
