January's are Boring

January's are boring.  And I actually love that about January.  After a full December, it always feel good to have a slow month filled with a lot of nothing.  I love it.  Nolen had a belt up ceremony last Saturday, so after my run with Pam, I booked it over to his gym and watched him get his stripes.

We dog sat Landon's dog, Striker so we stopped by there to check on him.  He is an old dog who needs a little TLC.  We love checking in on him when Landon is gone.

I made cookies this weekend because I needed a redemption from the cookies I made back in November. I had such a disaster then, but this time, I was successful.  Everyone loved the cookies, especially on a snowy day!

Lastly, Nolen never wears pants.  Never.  His teacher offered everyone in his class extra credit if he wore pants.  He did it!  It was hilarious!

Training for a Half

Winter is seriously the hardest time to train for a half marathon.  I have trained a few times during the winter and I haven't really enjoyed it.  It is really cold and hard for me to get the motivation to walk out the door.  I have also been feeling like I need a break from running, so that means I am burnt out.  However, I have loved training with my friend Pam Martinez.  We get up early on Saturday's and meet to run in the freezing cold.  I adore Pam.  She really is such a good friend to me.

Happy New Year!

We had a pretty low key new year.  Both Stephen and Edward had to work, so Nolen and I hung out for most of the day.  We took the dog for a walk and mostly sat around enjoying our day off.

This year, I am hoping to keep my health on track.  I got a terrible sore throat last May and things have been a bit hay wire since then.  I want to slow down on my running and focus on my health.  I would like to gain back some of the muscle I lost over the last few years and be better at my food choices.  I want to spend more time with my boys after school and do more things they want to do. I would like to really get my boys prepped for actual adulthood.  I need to teach Edward how to manage groceries and cooking.  Most of my goals just include spending more time with the people I love.  I would like to get out of this depressed state I feel, but that may take some more time as I am still grieving the death of my mother.  I have a lot of fun vacation plans in my mind and I want to do them all!  Stephen is moving to San Francisco this summer so I am waiting to plan any big trips until he moves and we know what his schedule will look like.  In the mean time, I truly hope to love more and do a lot more living!
