Sons of Mystro!

We took a field trip today to watch some cool guys play the electric violin.  It was so cool.  The boys really liked the show.  There were some funny things about the performance but we laughed about them afterward.  Like the fact that they said, "Sons of Mystro" fifty thousand times during and after each song.  They asked the crowd, "How ya'll doing?" at least a hundred times during the performance.  They needed a script as it was obivious they are musicians and not really performers.
Anyhow, after the show we planted a cherry tree in our back yard.  YAY!

Also, today I permed and dyed my eyelashes!!  Here's hoping they stay looking this good for the next two months!

When you just don't want too

Let me be frank: Sometimes, I don't want to do anything. At all.  Yesterday was one of those days.  Edward and Nolen had spent the night at my parents house so I made plans to sleep in and do nothing.  Those plans changed early.  I couldn't sleep in.  I hate when that happens.
My dad texted me around 8:30 and said he was going to take the boys to plant some tree in the Bosque.  I really wanted to stay home.  I didn't want to go.
It was cold.  Rainy.  AND it was Saturday!
I did not want to go.
My dad brought the boys by at 9:30 and I let my dad have it! I was so upset because I just wanted to spend the day doing absolutely nothing. I acted like a child.
Then I gathered up all my warm clothes, some shovels, and water then we headed out to make the world a better place.
The day ended up being just find. I did yell at the boys because I was tired toward the end of the day and I should really have a handle on my temper.  Yesterday proved I don't have a handle on anything.
Today was a new day.  I repented for my lost temper.  I apologized to my children.  We started the day with a prayer then went to church.  Today was a better day.
I'm not perfect and sometimes I really just don't want to do anything.  At all.
We did plant trees.
The boys had fun.
We made the world a better place.
All thanks to my Dad.

The 11th Hour

Today, Edward turns 11.
I counted.
I have 7 years until he turns 18 and moves out.
I have 7 years to teach him everything he needs to know in order to become a good functioning adult.
I have 7 years to hold him, hug him, and teach him empathy.
I have 7 years until my baby is grown up.
I have 7 years.
That's it.
7.
Edward is kind.
He loves animals.  All animals.  He loves lizards, snakes, and turtles.
He loves so deeply.
He tries so hard and gets hurt to deeply when things do not turn out at intended.
Edward is brilliant.
He loves reading and language arts.
He is a math genius.
Edward's best friend is his little brother, Nolen.
They laugh together all day.
They say silly fart jokes.
They fart on each other.
They play all day together.
Edward is the best older brother.
He is kind.
He is generous.
Edward would like to be a pilot when he grows up.
He wants to fly all types of airplanes.
He still wants to own a lot of pets but he no longer talks of owning a pet store.
He loves his long hair.
Edward loves swimming and is quite fast.
He is curious.
He is soft spoken.
He is intuitive.
He is quiet.
Edward has an old soul.  I have thought this since he was born.
I love this boy.
I love him.
He is mine to love forever.
Happy 11th birthday, Edward.

For Edward's birthday party, we went to the pet shop in the mall.  Edward got to hold every single lizard, snake, turtle, and spider in the store.   It was awesome.  He invited his two best friends, Titus and Kyle.  They got along wonderfully.
After petting all the pets, we went up stairs for sushi, then went to the trampoline park to jump.  Everyone had a great time.
