Red light green light

Have you been to Albuquerque? Well with these two post, I hope to entice you to come for a visit. We went to Red light Green light for a trip out with Nolens therapist, Whitney.   Both boys loved the ball pit in the back of the truck.

Aquarium!

We are really blessed here in Albuquerque to have an aquarium attached to a botanical garden. There are so many fun things do do here, one could never get bored.

Autism Awareness month

April is Autism Awareness month.
I have paired up with Chloe + Isabel to raise money for the New Mexico Autism Society.  30% of all purchases will benefit the NMAS.  Click http://www.chloeandisabel.com/boutique/megsong/de8791 to look through the product line and help raise money for the children with autism in New Mexico.

If you have concerns about your child, please click on Nolen's name and see the signs of autism in children under the age of 3.  Early intervention combined with a lot of research and prayer have changed the course of Nolen's life.  He is now indistinguishable between other children his age.
You can also always email me with questions.

Grandma and Grandpa

We had such a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Barnes over the weekend.  Stephen and I were even able to slip away for a night with out the boys.  I love those moments where we can just be us if even for a moment.

ABA Therapy

Nolen has been doing ABA therapy for nearly 9 months now.  He has made substantial improvement over the last year, since he was diagnosed with autism.  When he started ABA therapy, he had just started talking again and was starting to follow one step directions.  I took a video back in September so that I could see the changes as he progressed through the therapy.
September 2013

ABA therapy has been such a true success in his life.  He is learning to cope and can now go out in public places with out having giant melt downs.  Yes, he still has melt downs, but they are few and far between.  He usually just begs to go home when he is over whelmed.  You can see a large margin of improvement from September to now.  He is able to sit in his chair, follow directions and answer questions with full sentences.  Considering he couldn't talk last February, this boy  has come a long way.
I am so grateful to the wonderful therapist who come every day to help Nolen.  I am also so glad I didn't end up putting him in pre-school this year.  I think he is doing just as good with out the extra stress of showing up at school at the age of 3.  He still has a long way to go, but the last 6 months of therapy have drastically changed his life for the better.
