Girls Camp!!

Wow, this was just what I needed!! I had to most amazing time at girls camp this year. I sort of wasn't looking forward to going but I am so glad I went.  It was incredible.  It was so well organized and we had so many fun events.  Mary Rogers and I were in charge of putting together an obstacle course.  We had a lot of ideas and really put them together well.  I shared a tent with Melissa Spencer, Kristen Taylor, and one other women I didn't know well.  I woke up and ran with some of the cougar girls one day and ran on my own the other days.  I am so grateful I went up to camp.  It was just what I needed.

Edward and Nolen went to boys camp at the same time I was at girls camp.  They had the opposite experience than me.  They were rained on heavily nearly every day and the food wasn't good.  They said they were bored a lot and wanted to come home early.  This is sort of how they feel about church right now.  It has been a source of hardship for them. They took no photos.

Water Polo

Nolen is trying a new sport this summer.  We didn't do swim team and I am so glad. My boys were ready for a change this year.  Truthfully, me too.  I have been trying to implement changes in our lives since January.  We need a break and switching to water polo was just what we needed.  It only cost $50 for the entire summer and it was fun!  Nolen had his first game tonight and he really enjoyed it.

A quick visit from family + Father's Day!

This Friday, my decided to stop all of her chemo and just stay home.  She asked to be put on hospice. This was a bit of a shock to me but also I was expecting it to come.  I was still praying for a full recovery of my mother.  I feel so overwhelmingly sad.  I don't even know how to process that my mother will no longer be with us on this earth any more. She has been my rock.  She is strong and courageous.  I love her.  This choice brought all my siblings together for a weekend.  It was wonderful to see them for fathers day.

Logan was able to ride up with his family and Edward took him shooting at the air-soft shooting range.  The shooting range is one of Edward's favorite places to go lately.

Happy Father's day to my amazing dad! I adore him.  Happy father's day to my kind husband who has patiently sat by my side loving me over and over.  I love him!

Hiking La Luz

Today, I took some of the young women on a high adventure hike in our own back yard. We hiked La Luz which is the trail that goes up the Sandia mountains that sit to the east of Albuquerque. We got up at 4 AM and met at the church at 5 AM then drove over to the trail. We began hiking around 5:30 AM and it was still really dark. We made our way up the trail pretty quickly considering how big our group was. The girls were troupers and we went all the way to the tiptop and back down. It was 15 miles round trip and just beautiful. I ran the last three miles and fell! Yep, ate it! I had a huge gash in my bleeding hand as I finally got to the parking lot at 10:30. It took 5 hours and my legs were so sore. As if I had run a marathon. So glad I had Mary Roger’s to hike with me! She is incredible,

Mary and I have been biking 40 miles a week together since 2020. She joined the track team this year and it was so fun seeing her nearly every single day!
