Stephen in San Fran and us in ABQ

Stephen has been out hiking and running on his days off in San Francisco and we have been helping fix up my dad's house here in Albuquerque.  Nothing great but we have had some fun trying to get my dad's house organized.  Stephen has missed us like crazy and he is trying to stay busy while he is away.  I organized the kitchen and the refrigerator.  I still need to organize the pantry but that can wait until I have an entire day to set aside for that big project.

Craig and Blair got a new cyber truck!!  It is so cool!!

Nolen's First day of Sophmore Year!

Nolen is attending school online so he isn't really "leaving" to go to school, but he is starting online.  We are trying to get him used to being online because we are moving in August next year.  I wanted him to maybe attend school one more year, but he was ready to be at home and work on his game.  Although, his game was stolen by hackers this summer so that plan sort of went out the window.  Nolen is going to New Mexico Connections Academy online.  I hope he loves it!!  Happy Sophmore year, Nolen!

Kickball and the Jemez!

Kickball has been a lot of fun this summer.  As soon as I stopped being competitive in my mind it was way more fun. I didn't want to be my normal self because my personality can really take over a conversation and I wanted to just kick back and listen to all the other people talk.  Most of the kickball group is post Mormon so it was fascinating to hear their stories.  It was fun to get to know all of them.  We dressed up as super heroes for one of our games and had so much fun.

The kickball group invited me up to their cabin that weekend in the Jemez.  This was my first weekend without Stephen.  We had a blast.  Spencer and I ran up to a hot springs and got in.  It was so beautiful.  The whole time I was thinking how much my family would love a little hike like that.  We stayed up late playing games and being scared of a bear.  HA!  We ate pizza and just laughed and laughed.  It was such a fun weekend and it kept me occupied while Stephen was away.

Hello, San Francisco!

Today is the day. Today is the day Stephen moves into his apartment in San Francisco.  Today is the day he starts a new life without us.  He will be living alone for the next year in San Francisco while he trains at the tower to become a tower air traffic controller.  We uprooted our family, moved in with my dad, and we are looking toward a better financial future for all of us.

We left my aunt Judy's house around 9 AM and drove up to Stephen's apartment.  We contacted the home owners and drove up to the house.  It was intimating to say the least.  The street was full of cars and there was no where to park Stephen's truck with the trailer.  We parked in front of the driveway and started unloading the trailer.  As we unloaded, I realized what Stephen had brought with him.  IT WAS SO MUCH! The room he is staying in is so tiny and he brought a lot of furniture.  We barely got the couch in, he brought a chair, two foot stools, a bed, and a dresser.  We barely got it all in and did a lot of sweating to make it happen.

After figuring out where to put stuff in the tiny room, we headed out to meet my cousin, Melinda.  I haven't seen her in year.  We had to drop the uhaul off in a funny place in San Francisco and then we couldn't find a place to park to meet Melinda in downtown San Francisco.  Melinda got lucky and score a spot for us!  We loved hanging out with her and her boy friend and asking her tons of questions about the city.  She is so fun!

After dinner we drove back to the apartment and it sunk in that Stephen will be living in the tiny space with out us.  Sunday, we woke up and went to costco and tried to drop off one of the chairs at the goodwill but they wouldn't take it.   We ended up taking it and a lot of boxes to the dump for $40 bucks.  Ugh.  Either way, we got Stephen settled in and he started work on Monday.  I left Tuesday morning at 5 AM and seriously cried as I walked to my plane.  I miss him already.  Stephen is my everything.  I adore him.  It will be three weeks until I see him again and it might just be the hardest longest three weeks of my life!!

Last first day of School for Edward

Today is the last first day of school for Edward.  He is a senior this year.  AND boy does he act like it.  He is ready to be done with school. I know that feeling well.  He is so amazing.  I love him.  I can not wait to see how and where he decides to go in his life.
