I love vacations. I especially love a good long vacation. This years family vacation, we headed up to Utah and Idaho. We started our trip early Friday morning. We drove through New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah on our first day. We stopped in Salt Lake City and stayed at the Grand America. It was relaxing.
Saturday, we woke up had breakfast at the famous Grand America buffet and then met Jared's family at Lagoon. It was SO FUN! We rode as many rides as we could possibly fit in before the frightmare crowds started piling in at 5 PM. We convinced all the kids to ride one scary ride. They loved it so much they rode it four more times! Stephen and I rode a scary ride by ourselves. It was a blast. After riding rides all day, we met up with my parents and Craig and Blair for dinner at a delicious burger shop in downtown Salt Lake. After dinner, we went back to the hotel and swam in their cold in door pool. I mostly sat in the hot tub!
Sunday morning, we had a special treat. I requested some tickets to the Sunday morning session at General Conference. My boys were so excited to see the prophet in person. My Mom had never been to conference in person, so she took my tickets and took Edward, Nolen, and Logan. Before we headed out to the conference center, I ordered breakfast in bed for these two happy boys. After Conference, we walked around temple square to show the boys the Salt Lake Temple.
Sunday afternoon, we drove up to our cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was a beautiful day to drive. I drove my family through my college town of Rexburg, Idaho. Ricks College was so fun! It was fun to relive some of my memories with my family. Our cabin was 9,000 square feet of luxury. It had 3 king bed rooms with private bathrooms, 4 queen bedrooms, and 2 large bunk rooms. Everyone had their own bed and their own rooms! It was awesome. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful location. The cabin had a private lake with 4 kayaks and a peddle boat. We were situated 50 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone and 60 miles to Jackson, Wyoming.
Sunday night, we played laser tag and laughed and laughed.
Monday, we woke up bright and early and headed straight to Yellowstone. It was magnificent. There was so much to see! We spent all day in the park. We stopped at all the most important stops. We saw Old Faithful, waterfalls, mud pots, and geysers.
Tuesday morning, we all slept in and just relaxed. I woke up to catch the sunrise. It was stunning. Stephen and I took the boys on a 3 mile run so enjoy the scenery near the cabin. We spent the day on the private lake and in the hot tub. After all the driving, we needed a day of playing games and catching up. Craig and Blair jumped on one of the kayaks and promptly tipped over. It was hilarious!
Wednesday, we started our day by driving to Mesa Falls and feeding the fish near the cabin then we drove back to Yellowstone and shopped at the town just outside the west entrance.
Thursday, we woke up early then went for a run, took family photos then we drove through the Grand Tetons to Jackson, Wyoming. It was the perfect day for a drive through eastern Idaho. The drive was just beautiful. We ate at the Four Seasons resort in Jackson Hole then went shopping at the town center. Such a fun day!
No family vacation is complete with out trying to capture an updated family photo. I love my family. I think I really lucked out. They truly are the best.
